Oneliner contest winners! + 10000 kiriban winner!

Wed Aug 26, 2009, 11:55 AM
I got featured here [link] ! :boogie: My thanks go out to the lovely :lkirkland: who suggested me.
Otherwise I would like to apologise to all the people waiting for an answer, just so much right now with school starting tomorrow (I still need to get my books!) and as if that was not enough my brother went and applied me to the choir he's a part of and the song test is on monday and I'm so nervous I'm afraid I'll just melt instead of sing...

-----------------magical-update-line--------------------

Hello everybody! Today we have a lot to go through so let's start with the most important and most fun part: Features!

As you might know the haiku club :iconthe-haiku-club: ended it's second competition some time ago (there's a new now) and the winners would get featured here and in other deviants journals. First place even got a one month subscription from the generous =rlkirkland The catch this time was that the haiku must be written in one line, just like it is traditionally in Japanese.

So here we go. *drumroll*

In first place: :iconbekkia: with the scenic Picking Time. Not hindered by the restrictions but instead using them to enhance the imagery she is clearly a worthy winner.

Now this might come as a surprise to you, but haiku is only a newcomer in this woman's repertoire. Just take a look in her gallery [link] and you'll see what I mean. I would personally like to recommend
Steven as well as her writing guides.

In second place: :icondjoseph: with the ridiculous Bath-time one-liner. I honestly have a hard time believing that this amateur could have won by any fair means. Just look at it:

sound of rain... my legs too long for the bathtub

Ridiculous I say! But what else could you expect from a man that dresses like this? I rest my case. Lets move on.

In third place: :iconsano-balron: with the celestial Aldebaran. Read it and if you don't get it, read the comments for a quick lesson in astronomy. It really helps you to appreciate the depth of this haiku all the more.

So many nice things to find in this deviants gallery that it's hard to know where to start. But I suggest you take a look at his very ambitious July Haikuthon 2009. He wrote no less than one haiku and a tanka a day!

These were the three finalists, but let's not forget the two honorable mentions:

:iconkoori-bara: with oneliner

:iconmcdermid: with plaintive hum

plaintive hum, the season's last cicada

Now I hope you really will take your time and take a look in these talented deviants galleries. Add some faves, add some watches, leave some comments, write some critiques.
In short: give them some , not just

I announced in my last journal that I would be giving something to whomever could give me a screenshot of my front screen when the page view counter ticked over to 10000. Since this caused close to no reaction whatsoever I guess it's only fair that the one who ended up winning (without competition) was the long time DA lurker and wife of yours truly: ~Lawofreflection The price has been agreed on and we hope you will be able to see it here some day later.
Congrats to you darling! :winner:

I've more or less settled in in the new apartment in Uppsala now. As much as I can settle in without ~Lawofreflection I'll be starting my studies in little more than a week and there's still things to be done before that. Need to get the books, look for a part time job and choose new wallpaper for the living room. I'll be doing some writing in between of course. I always want to write more when I've got more "important" things to do. =P
I've moved Cygirl WIP preview to my scraps since it's not a finished poem. I would still like pointers on it though, all manners of critique is welcome. I've added 7 new verses, and there's more to come I'm sure.

  • Mood: Nervous
  • Listening to: Three Little Birds - Bob Marley
  • Reading: Course info
  • Playing: ASV (far too much)
  • Eating: popcorn
  • Drinking: homemade lemonade
